People don't have to be intelligent to be good people. Intelligent people can be massively disappointing.
If you're looking for keeps, you need to look deeper than only external things like intelligence and looks. Who is he? Is he honest? Will he stick by you no matter what? Does he have values you could live with if he turned his worst on to you?
The rest is just window dressing. Gets you into the shop, but you might regret it.
