Why do you think humans have such a tough time empathising with one another?

While empathy is popular these days, I'm not sure how useful it is.

I would rather have a doctor attending me who knows how to fix my broken leg than one who knows how a broken leg feels.

@Mamapolo2016 a doctor, yes. But maybe you'd have different expectations from say, a psychotherapist
