Is love often reciprocated?

I was just like you...up until I met my wife when I was 36. I have never been one to expect or even want people to go above and beyond for me (though it is really nice when they do from time to time)...I would've just been happy with and appreciated just to be given what I gave, but that just never happened with love interests, friends, or family. I got used and taken advantage of quite often. People can be very selfish and self-centered. Some may not realize they are doing that, others do it because they think if they give you the time of day they are entitled. My wife has given me more than I could ever ask for or hope for...I consider myself to be a very fortunate man. She does it out of love for me and appreciation for all that I've given to and done for her. It is wonderful!!
