Better to be alone. The wrong person will drive the right person away. You don't need father figures or mother figures, gurus, etc. You're an adult. You dreamed to be independent when you were a child, only to chain yourself as an adult??? Only person you should be with is that special one.

Definitely be alone... It's harder to find the right person when you're still with the wrong person
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
I used to have friends. But with the course of time, I learned that friends tend to be manipulative and selfish for their own needs.

So in that regard I would say I'm better off without them. I haven't had them for a while. I don't want them either. I'm better off this way and I'm used to being this way.
Melpomene · 22-25, F
@Beatbox34 Those weren't friends...
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@Melpomene They seemed to be initially. People change with time.
You can be lonely and never be alone. I know that all too well.
Much better to develop other interests to combat loneliness, like volunteering. No good personal relationships are based upon tolerance
CharlieZ · 70-79, M
it’s better to have a bunch of friends that love you for who you are!
then you don’t have to settle for tolerating anyone....

and dating can be a fun experience where you learn what you like and don’t like about a person and yourself

b/c rejection doesn’t hurt you ....your friends already love who you are

this help?
curiosi · 61-69, F
Never settle, if you can remember that you are alone because there is one out there that will be worth the wait, then you can turn your loneliness into aloneness.
Melpomene · 22-25, F
@curiosi How can you know there's such a person?
curiosi · 61-69, F
@Melpomene One of the wonderful things about being alone is time. I have spent much time observing and have learned much. I see some who have settled and they are unhappy, I see others that have found the one. I see some that I can't imagine in all the world how they found each other but what a perfect match up. I believe with my with all my heart in soul mates.
Melpomene · 22-25, F
@curiosi Yes but sometimes it's not fair. Some people don't have a match

Alone. No doubt.
JustNik · 51-55, F
Being with someone you merely tolerate isn’t going to make you less lonely. It will just distract you with annoyance. Makes more sense to distract yourself with something pleasant.

And, with the years, ended choosing to be alone.

Starcrossed · 41-45, F
Do not mistake aloneness for loneliness.
