Is it better to be lonely or to tolerate someone just so you wouldn't be alone ?

I used to have friends. But with the course of time, I learned that friends tend to be manipulative and selfish for their own needs.

So in that regard I would say I'm better off without them. I haven't had them for a while. I don't want them either. I'm better off this way and I'm used to being this way.
