Does your significant other know your whole life story or are their parts that you deliberately leave out?

I've been married for 17 years and there are still things that I've never told my husband and I probably never will. I'm too scared and ashamed to admit them to myself, never mind someone else, even if it is my spouse.
Do you think that someone should reveal everything to their significant other or is it okay to leave the past in the past sometimes?

My wife and I hace never really talked about our pasts, other than childhood stories from her father. It really doesn't matter. We both enjoy the day and look forward to the future together.
