It is really tough... its really hard... I've been on both sides. I've lost people because of it, and wanted away from people because of it... I wish I had a way to help it just sucks..

I dated someone with bipolar and borderline PD. It was hard. But I do think it’s manageable with honest and upfront conversation and communication. Your partner will need to also do some research to know what to expect and how to adjust and be sensitive to the different phases. It takes effort but can be as fulfilling as any relationship. All relationships take effort and each has its own challenges. Good luck!

I knew someone like you and when she listened to her doctor she was fine but the minute she ignored him and no longer took the medicine prescribed to her it was game over. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I have dealt with similar mood swings and the only way I have ever found to deal with it is to just push everyone away

It may help giving them the heads up 1st, then they'll know what to expect

1. Stop dating because you're hurting people.
2. Get medicated.
3. Start dating again when you're emotionally not in a state where you'll hurt people.

Regulate yourself on medication if it's that bad. You don't need to date someone to be worthwhile

Get yourself balanced and then start dating. But either way I think guys will still date you no matter what.

You need to set things out with potential dates early. If your mental illness is going to cause havoc in the relationship early on, people have to know what they're getting in to so they know that if you go manic and rage out that it is not personal and you're trying your best.
Not everyone will be able to handle that, but some people absolutely can.

Take medication

@Butterflykisses24 good advice.

Just do your best to maintain yourself (which I’m sure you’re already doing) and at that point, it’s up to them to understand and tolerate your illness. If they can’t, that’s their fault. Not yours.

First get on medication for your bipolar disorder second maybe try to date someone that will be understanding of your disorder that way even if you have an episode they will understand and not freak out over it

Go on an outdoor adventure and leave your phone at home. Take a mate or three.
Been with someone bipolar. Are you on anything for it?

I've dated a bipolar, I wish she had been upfront about it.

I dunno. But yeah I can't see that working out to well on a date.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
