Because there is a horrible stigma on women where you must be a perfect mom but if a dad changes a diaper once he is a great father
Amyrakunejo · F
@SW-User Since I never knew my father (it's also possible that my mother conceived me asexually), there was never this prominent male figure in my own life, and I turned out fine, sort of.
SW-User
@Amyrakunejo conceived asexually??? That means you might be a clone???
Amyrakunejo · F
@SW-User Hardly. Asexual conception is often done through willpower.

My eldest son is 18 now. He has a good apprenticeship and is doing well.
I left his dad when he was a baby because his dad was a criminal. If I'd stayed my son would probably be a criminal now too.
I've raised all my four children basically alone. The father of the younger ones would never live with me even though he wanted to marry me which is stupid.
After years I found out partially the reason he didn't want to live with me is because he was involved in criminal activity too. I ended that relationship too.
My children are better with just me. I 100% believe that. They are happy, engage at school, social. We do everything a family with two parents would do.
The thing they lack is seeing a healthy relationship example. I can't give them that because I have this extremely fantastic knack of picking terrible men. All I can do is tell them things I've read and hope that "if you can't do it teach it applies"
So you have faith in yourself. Do your best. Your best is good enough. You don't have to be perfect, good enough. Others have inaccurate opinions, that's their problem, focus on you and your son because he's the next generation which is far more important than the opinions from past generations.

Well my daughter is 6 years old and I've always been a single Mom. And I don't give a shit what anybody thinks about me. I take care of and support my daughter very well on my own.

What. The. Actual. Fuck.
Oh wait...
I have seen this before. Your relatives must like the idea that you would consider staying in a bad relationship because of this thing called Stockholm Syndrome.
You know...it's okay to tell them to fuck off...
Of course, you don't have to say it that way either, but this is your life; only you have a say in what happens.

@Say2011 That doesn't excuse their illicit, immoral, and invalid behavior.
You're doing just fine, same as my mother.

Thank you
Amyrakunejo · F
@Say2011 You're very welcome, dear.
tbh it makes people feel inferior, especially if you do it sucessfully... because most women cant do it without a dude supporting them and most dudes think they actually contribute to parenting
KaiserSolze · 46-50, F
@PinkPowerRanger lol I think you're right and I think that's a part of it. My family used to worry about me being alone. Not condemn but worry. Once they realised I am fine alone, better really because I pick the wrong guys, they got off my case about being alone and how hard it is and how I need a good man.

Some people think that they're irresponsible for getting pregnant with the wrong man and hence indirectly/directly affecting the future of the child.
Amyrakunejo · F
@Poofy It means that there are mothers who conceived children through willpower alone.
@KaiserSolze Yes. Nicely worded. Women are left with the physical consequence, the child, whereas men are left with themselves and their faults.
@Amyrakunejo That sounds like a load of bull to the majority of people.
BoldSam · 46-50, F
May be your relatives are jealous of you .

Your relatives sound just as toxic as your previous relationship. I know it's hard but shield yourself from them. Let them speak, but don't give importance to whatever they say/do about it.

There could be a number of reasons why someone is a single parent, such as their partner died, ran out on them or they took their kids out of an abusive environment etc.
midnightsun · 26-30, M
There's a lot of statistics that shows single moms are bad for children
Amyrakunejo · F
@midnightsun I've read these and they're all biased and based off of other research factors that don't necessarily correlate with the single parent.
This alone debunks the idea.

@BoldSam I don't know either. Just heard it online
BoldSam · 46-50, F
@midnightsun oh! its news to me. Can you refer the link ?

Be the best you can for yourself and your baby. Don’t worry about what others think.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
Just be you and do your best.. That's all we can do
Gingerbreadspice · F
Maybe they just wonder why you had a child in an unhappy relationship. I wonder about this with some women to. Maybe it wasn’t bad before you had the baby I don’t know but it soon made a turn for the worst.
SW-User
To generalise, it’s bc a child needs both parents
Amyrakunejo · F
@SW-User Asexual conception says otherwise.
KaiserSolze · 46-50, F
@Amyrakunejo is that a real biological thing?
@Amyrakunejo I guess whether or not asexual conception is a real thing, people will look down on you for not having a man in your life. They'll assume that you're unwanted. People may also feel that asexual conception is inferior to sexual conception.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Would you date someone who would never make you a priority in life?
Say2011 · 26-30, F
How would you know when they’re acting differently when they first wanted you? As time passes they started to release their true colors but it’s already too late. (He was my first and only boyfriend. I never date before I met him) @MrBrownstone
ZonkeyBalls · 46-50, M
It's "view" as in singular.

@ZonkeyBalls grammar nazi 🏃 😂
