What do men call their girlfriends or wives to their friends?

They use her name or say my wife

That depends entirely on his relationship with his wife/GF. It varies greatly.
Eg. Her name, my dear wife, the wife, the missus, the ball and chain, my handbrake etc.

As in I I'm talking to a friend about her? I usually refer to her as 'my girl', 'my lady', or 'my baby'

I always refer to my wife as....my wife. To people who know her or both of us I just use her name.

For those who know her, her name; otherwise I'll say "my wife" or similar.
