Both. My best friend from High School really hurt me years ago. We'd been friends for about 25 years. I got locked up for three years- when i got out he was in town around Christmas to visit his folks for a week. I lived 10 minutes away, and he said we could talk on the phone, but he didn't have time to see me, as he was planning to visit other friends. After 3 years of being locked up- that really hurt. I wrote him, and told him what i thought about it, and never heard from him again- he showed his true colors. You find out who your real friends are when you are down. He wasn't willing to give me a couple hours of his time- people that won't sacrifice are not real friends.

Friendship is a two way street. I've found that with most "friends", I have to make 90% of the effort to stay in touch. After a while, I cut them loose, since that is not a real friend anyway.

I have,but that's usually a signal it's not going so well

@SW-User Always try to figure out what's wrong or talk to them if you feel you are drifting away from them. Just my thoughts.
