Both. My best friend from High School really hurt me years ago. We'd been friends for about 25 years. I got locked up for three years- when i got out he was in town around Christmas to visit his folks for a week. I lived 10 minutes away, and he said we could talk on the phone, but he didn't have time to see me, as he was planning to visit other friends. After 3 years of being locked up- that really hurt. I wrote him, and told him what i thought about it, and never heard from him again- he showed his true colors. You find out who your real friends are when you are down. He wasn't willing to give me a couple hours of his time- people that won't sacrifice are not real friends.

@LonelyMan sorry to hear your friend bailed on you like that. I don't know what happened that you were locked up but do you think that's why he turned away. No need to say why you were just wondering if that may have been the reason.

@rjc36 I don't think so- he was very upset when I got locked up- my Mom said he was even crying on the phone! I just think he was like many people- unless they have to give a little- they are willing to be friends.

@LonelyMan Well hopefully there are other friends that can help fill some of that loss. I to have lost old friends due to people getting divorced and stupid situations. It is never easy.
