Can a man who is being abused by girlfriend force her off lease?

I have a guy friend who is living with his girlfriend and they both are on the lease. The cops were called due to a situation and the police saw that she was the abuser. He is also the one paying the rent and has all the receipts. How can he get her off the lease?

Break the lease, usually has a fee, and move if need be. It's hard to kick someone off a lease. It just takes a little money to break the lease and go elsewhere.
