If he can get the landlord to re-do the lease with him as the only holder, or perhaps a restraining order against her? That might help the landlord redo the lease?

If he is the main holder he can just remove it himself.

Break the lease, usually has a fee, and move if need be. It's hard to kick someone off a lease. It just takes a little money to break the lease and go elsewhere.
