When you are in a relationship and you ask the person you're with if they really love you,you should hear just yes with no "buts" after am I correct?

The man I was with said yes BUT life is short. This isn't a great answer in my opinion😐😐😐😐

I’m sorry. That’s not good. There seems to be no emotional attachment or investment there.

@LadyGrace yeah buts are always a sign of uncertainty too I believe.
LadyGrace · 80-89
@kimberlyJay Not that kind of but. He’s emotionally unavailable.
helenS · 36-40, F
I would never ask this question. This question is like a knife.
LadyGrace · 80-89
@kimberlyJay If you have to ask, sounds like it’s on shaky ground. If a man loves you, you’ll know it. He’ll show it.
kimberlyJay · 36-40, F
@LadyGrace yes you're right☺☺☺

@helenS Yes. The others display insecurity.

You’ll save yourself a lot of heartache if you don’t kid yourself about this one. Terrible answer he gave. You must be realistic and face the truth.

There should be no "but"
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news
He doesn't love you
Why waste your time with him
helenS · 36-40, F
@SW-User If someone asked me that question I'd really become angry. This might be the end of a relationship. He would ask only once.
kimberlyJay · 36-40, F
@SW-User that's how I feel he's really saying "I don't love you but trying not to hurt you" type of thing going on the whole answer is just off. Men are very direct so but is a red flag when men pair it with love🤔🤔

Hmm.. That's suspicious. He seems don't wanna commitment with you.

I can see how a but can be relevant in some situations.
But the way he phrases that, he seems unsure of his love.
Unless we're missing a context.
Unless you're asking him to do something he doesn't want to...and so he says he loves you but life is short to do that.

From that do you deduce he's giving you permission to 'cheat' ?

As opposed to the obvious insinuation HE expects to be able to.
kimberlyJay · 36-40, F
@Picklebobble2 it's almost like he's giving us both permission to cheat on each other. One thing I noticed about men they are upfront with everything and direct so when you hear maybe, but and probably from a man drop the relationship because he's about to dump you or planning on dumping you soon.

Well no! I hope he was joking when we said that! Otherwise your reply should be, “That’s the only butt you're getting.”
