Communication... without it, the other qualities and things you hope for can fail
I suppose it depends on the relationship and the people in the relationship. For me, I guess it’s communication, genuine concern and care for each other’s problems, and trust. I’m sure there are more but these stand out the most for me.

I can't single out any one thing. It is a combination of things.
Communication and a willingness to make it through are high up there, among other things.
frequentlyme · 70-79, M
I'd ahve to say it's communication. Without good communication, all else fails.

Trust. Communication. Equality.

It's a lot of things...
Fernie · F
@SailorMarz Most co-dependent people I know and have known ...do not/did not have that level of self awareness to know they were that way. I think and hope that means you won't find yourself in that situation again
SailorMarz · F
@Fernie I'm too self aware, i think. I don't like being in my head so much. But i guess this is one of those times where that comes in handy.
Fernie · F
@SailorMarz A person can NEVER be too self aware. Self awareness is self-knowledge, being enlightened, awake. If you overthink things ...that is something different. Your self-awareness will keep you from making the same mistakes over and over as many of us do because we do not see ourselves....self aware people DO see

Not getting on my nerves (I'm selfish)

Loyalty, honesty, Love, Respect, and the ability to make each other laugh.
Plus, I want to feel safe.
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
@rottenrobi yes feeling safe is so important too. that was a good one.
rottenrobi · 56-60, F
love trust loyalty communication forgiveness being your own person theres many.. no such thing as most important when everything is needed
summersun · 36-40, F
Balance of all elements
Fernie · F
[@summersun Realistically, reaching perfection in a relationship is not something I personally would ever aim for.
summersun · 36-40, F
@Fernie I am not saying we should aim for perfection but the question states what is the most important thing in a relationship. I don't think there is one. All of the elements of a relationship are equally important hence my answer balance of all elements
Fernie · F
@summersun anyway, it's all relative
rckt148 · 61-69, M
God ,marriage was His idea ,He likes it when they succeed
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
@rckt148 are you being sarcastic? :)
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@LookingForTheSummer not at all ,man having a woman and he and she be as one until they die was Gods plan ,
1 cor 6:16What? Know ye not that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? “For two,” saith He, “shall be one flesh.”

Mark 10:9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."

this was Gods plan ,but like many of Gods plans ,mankind won't listen
Elessar · 26-30, M
