same for both males and females, if they're willing to give up their parental rights, it'd probably be easier on the supporting parent in some circumstances.
MaliaAgain · 36-40, F
They both could. It’s called giving a child up for adoption or abandonment too
Phire1 · 51-55, F
@MaliaAgain Yes but, some males want to be able to legally opt out of parenthood/child support if the female keeps the child...
Miram · 31-35, F
I can't make a general decision.
But there are situations where the male was taken advantage of. Thinking he is taking all protections and being manipulated to have a child. I can understand why he would feel it's unjust to provide for it.
Also in situations where he can barely even feed himself.

If you want to opt out of responsibility, you should opt out of having a child

@WeighedDown Not sure why anyone would have a child if they don't want to take care of said child unless adoption is the choice, kinship, or the father takes custody
WeighedDown · 41-45, M
@Phire1idk she did not intend to get knocked up so I guess that don't apply but drugs fucked her up all she really cares about now
Phire1 · 51-55, F
@WeighedDown I'm sorry to hear that
Rain95 · 26-30, M
I got custody of my child and I am a male. And South Korea doesn't do child support.

Maybe they should've 'legally' opted out of inserting their penis's into a womans vagina too then.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@HijabaDabbaDoo Maybe the ladies should have the option of keeping her legs closed
HijabaDabbaDoo · F
@nedkelly thought that was pretty self explanatory
lakergoy · 36-40, M
You can sign away your rights to the state or another gaurdian
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
No i think there should be a legal requirement for teens to have their tubes tied !
Male and female ! Like a 'rite of passage' that's accepted in other cultures.
That way, even if they ignore the LAW about age of consent; even if they get LEAD astray by their hormones; even if 'they get drunk at parties' they won't do any damage to another life; family; government benefits etc.
If society flatly refuses to take responsibility for teaching kids proper sex education and how to take responsibility for your actions, you have to find another way !

@Picklebobble2 At any rate, Do you think males should be able to legally opt out of parenthood/child support? Should females be able to?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Phire1 No because if they can be allowed to opt out of the responsibility for bringing another life into the world....Arguably THE biggest decision a human can make ! you give them a 'cop-out' card to continue the same behaviour endlessly.
Phire1 · 51-55, F
@Picklebobble2 Interesting point!

before copulation or after ? Think the best way to resolve is them obtaining a certificate "Ready for Parenting" valid for a year and renewed. Either one cannot force the other and the one who is registered, has to parent. There is no opting out once they are registered "to be parents".

SW-User
ONLY if that the the ‘wish of the other parent’ and then only if they wanna!

SW-User
Read again now it’s corrected!@Phire1
Phire1 · 51-55, F
@SW-User Thank you for editing/clarifying.
Well, some courts might not agree with that even if both parties agree

@Phire1 it can and does happen!!!
MeisterAndrew · 41-45, M
Yes, women almost universally can. Men on the other hand in a lot of states can't. Yet if she chooses to give up the child he also has no rights.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Under some circumstances
Whys0serious · 36-40, M
Depends on the family situation.

Depends on the situation

If he fathered the child
He should pay his share
But if the mother only wanted the money and did want to let him be a father
That's a different mater

It takes two to tango.
If you decide to fornicate you must pay the consequences.
God made sex awesome (if done correctly) because of the reward. Cheating God is not a good idea.

Why to think it related to gender?
May be I´m biased because I lived decades rising my kids as a "single father".
And their mother (in a sigular way) opted out?

Unfortunately fathers have very few rights in the eyes of the law.
Hell, a woman can even abort his child and he has absolutely no say in the matter...
