Most of my fantasies are about old girlfriends. Things we did or I wish we had done.

I can’t remember who said it, but I read a quote: “We don’t remember days. We remember moments.”
There are a lot of moments in a year’s relationship. Most of us prefer the golden moments to the bleak, dark ones. So too often a relationship that didn’t work is filed in the memory folder as “Those seconds on our Grand Canyon trip when the sunset burned gold on the bluffs and you turned to smile at me with sunbeams tangled in your hair,” instead of “a half hour later you tried to run me over with my own Ford truck.”
Most ‘unfinished’ relationships ended for reasons that may blur with time, but were crystal clear in the moment.
Yesterday’s gone. Why stir it into tomorrow, especially when there’s no way to know how the next chapters of a bygone connection might have gone?
Try not to waste the present repainting the past.

I occasionally think of my ex and sometimes I feel sad at how things ended. We parted friends and decided not to contact each other again for which I'm happy with. We had an amazing relationship but it ended because he went back to his wife. They were separated when we met she wanted to try again and he felt guilty so went back. I hope he is happy. I'm not quite over it all but am finally able to cut the cords.

My wife says she used to think about her exes, but the only time she thinks of them now is when one of them calls or sends her a message. She is glad they are exes.

Sometimes an ex from my late teenage years crosses my mind. We were friends before we became a couple, so I just wish she's happy whereever she's at.

Yes, but the past is the past and without a time machine the past can't be changed.
Not really. Maybe a few good memories, but they're in the past.

I keep memories of people. The good times we had, but it always leads to the shock of some you love making a conscious decision to hurt you.
One day they fill your heart with love, another day they are ripping it out of your chest.
