From my perception, this era has been big for coming up with new terms and definitions. Alot of it seems to stem from the heightened tensions in the media.
The idea of spotting traits in people and labeling them as negative/positive so other people believe it as well has probably been around for hundreds of years. Societies are built by spreading common beliefs and following the crowd. Thats kind of why every country becomes its own melting pot.
By giving an idea a term, the belief can be spread easier. same concept as a catchy slogan.
I think in the past we werent so segregated by catagorizing people by popular terms so if someone was a "red flag", your girlfriend might just say "that guys no good for you" and help you through your struggle rather than saying "this type of man has some of these traits the internet as labled as negative so all men with this charcteriastic must have all the problems on the list.

I sure hope it always existed, but I'm afraid there's a reason there's so much domestic violence... Standards may have been lower before for starting a relationship. At the very least the standards for ending one definitely seem to be higher a few decades ago, and though there's something to say it's taken too lightly now, the bar was way too high in some cases in the past.

All these over used terms and phrases didn't exist back when I was dating. Geesh modern society has made everything so complicated and unnatural. Almost like they are looking for red flags.
Guess we just went by natural instinct and the obvious and for legit things not imagined petty things.

@4meAndyou I'm sorry to hear that.. But I put a laughing emoji up there.. as I too find the situation funny, for so many of us. Like it has to become so obvious you cannot ignore, that's why I laugh.
