I hope to not be cruel but your thoughts, your choices in partners, how you live is all your own choice because it's all your own responsibility. No matter what your family says or thinks... Its hard. Being in a relationship is fun, you get to play together and its a great time.
But being with someone who isn't for you can do massive damage to both parties. Imo, dating is hard. So much out of my control when I did it. Mostly though... I didn't date much because I found a lack of thoughtful people. Most people are perfectly happy just thinking in a shallow way and thats a great shame. Its not for me.

Yep not really your family's deal and don't let them influence your attitude toward your partner even if you fall out with your partner, they'll be forever trying to get you to break up when you should always be looking to fix a relationship.
(My mum never really liked any of my relationships except the one who was a nightmare for me, I couldn't figure it out.)
