I dumped someone in the past. He was very good looking and a nice guy. A keeper. But years later I married someone who has been my rock and we have so much in common. My best friend. That guy from the past probably wouldnt have worked out in the long run. So I don't dwell on him but have nice memories where they belong.

The one that got away haunts me often. I missed my chance and she got swept up my someone else. Life went on and I got married and had kids, she floated in and out of my thoughts through the years, and then randomly I stumble across her on social media. It was like a dam of feelings and memories burst and flooded me. Like a flood though, things are messed up completely. Here I sit trying to sort the mess.

Everyone who has meant something to me continues to live in my heart.

@Tomorrow Perhaps the key word in my comment is "let" 🙂. It was definitely something I took time to make a thoughtful decision on for myself. So in that regard, it was the right decision.
As far as how things are playing out... well, that's still somewhat uncertain. So I guess I don't regret my decision, but I do miss the person's energy and the positives we brought to each other.

They aren’t still in my heart. I wish them well, but in a way I ended up being the one that got away even though it felt like the opposite at the time
