If you're not married, do other people try to 'guilt trip' you into wanting to get married ?

I've had this a fair bit through my life - people around me trying to 'guilt trip' me into changing my views about marriage, weddings, families, etc. trying to make out the my kids are illegitimate because I was not married to their mum (or 'mum' in case of my 6 y/o daughter), trying to use religion to badger/belittle me into wanting to get married, trying to use cultural/social isolation tactics, etc.

Social and cultural isolation tactics don't work with me as I'm fully socially isolated naturally.

This is probably something a lot of people experience and like most forms of bullying/harrassment it tends to go largely un-reported and considered 'taboo' to talk about, like almost everything to do with marriage/weddings and social issues.

All the time. Its why I am currently taking a break from family because I get tired of hearing "bless your heart " maybe one day 😒

@LilPrincess just like 'bless your cotton socks'. Blessings are religious curse incantations.
Nope, well not directly, usually it's more for not giving my Mom grandkids yet....

Then I sarcastically tell her, if she really wants them, I can get her one in 9 to 12 months... if she wants... and she pushes less.

I love Adam Carrolla’s take on the subject: “ That’s really poor etiquette. When you attend funerals you don’t go around trying to guilt trip people into kicking the bucket, do you?”

Stick to your guns. It’s not what it seems.

People try that on me all the time
