Took me like 10 years until I could.

Love shouldn’t be toxic, don’t waste good years, become independent, get out, heal and find a healthy love. 🤗
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
If it is toxic then like a bandaid, rip it off all at once.
riseofthemachine · 41-45, M
Well there's 2 ways about toxic relationships .
1. If you love the person and you can tolerate the pain and come to an agreement that I'll change .
That's staying together.
2. If you love the person and you can't pull the plug on the relationship cause you crave the love even tho it's all pain and then the other person pulls the plug . It depends on how long your in the pain . My experience is that you could end up in a oysche ward .
What happens after that ?
3. Your going to avoid everyone in your life so it won't happen again and are you prepared to go through that pain on your own .
4. See what happens in relationships .
It's very difficult to say this but when the relationship is toxic . Do you really want to know what that is on both part ' Very childish " but the pain seems real and that's what drifts you apart .
Bad communication.

Every relationship we have be it friends or lovers should add to our lives. The minute that relationship is taking more from us than it’s adding, have a long hard look at it.
theyellowkeys · 26-30, F
@Primnproper that's a really good advice (I recognize you on EP too)
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@theyellowkeys yes I started out on EP back in 2012.

Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking cross the floor
Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking out the door

You never will get where you’re going
If you never get up on your feet
Come on, there’s a good tail wind blowing
A fast walking man is hard to beat

Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking cross the floor
Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking out the door

If you want to change your direction
If your time of life is at hand
Well don’t be the rule be the exception
A good way to start is to stand

Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking cross the floor
Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking out the door

If I want to change the reflection
I see in the mirror each morning
You mean that it's just my election
To vote for a chance to be reborn

Pack up and move far far away. 📦
@FloorGenAdm Yes we have all been there.
It’s easy when I feel disrespected.

Mostly by realizing love isn’t toxic. Toxic relationships can be other things, but not love. And staying in an emotionally, physically, psychologically, etc. harmful situation/relationship isn’t proving love either, nor is leaving that unhealthiness ’giving up on love’.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
I think you cant pinpoint it but normally its when you know youve reached that point where its either you or them and hopefully you choose yourself because you finally realise you're worth more and deserve better.

Very quickly

Life is a philosophy and each is a metaphor to the other. If you can see copulation as a metaphor, then there is engagement, indulgence, climax, and withdrawal to everything. And there is no connection between one event and the other. So even a good and exciting relationship must have a withdrawal phase, as one partner is away for months and then a reunion happens, making the relationship last. Overindulgence and continuous engagement only lead to saturation, making no difference. Anything that does not make a difference becomes monotonous, which is against nature.
JonUK31 · 36-40, M
Trust me sometimes you have to give up on love.

Used to date a woman that I loved. Finally had the sense to bin her - she caused me so much hassle afterwards I felt stupid for not giving up on love
Fairydust · F
Plan ahead, save money and leave asap.

If it’s toxic, it’ll never change, no amount of love can change it.

Always remember you’re doing the right thing.

I wonder what the motivation was for the person downvoting this post?
NinaTina · 26-30, F
@Morvoren just to be mean or that toxic person shes talking about
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
@Morvoren right!? Some people 🙄
theyellowkeys · 26-30, F
@Morvoren no biggie 😄 maybe they just disagree with the post

If it was toxic, then it wasn’t love. You’ll have learned from it and you’ll be ok next time x
Houdini · 56-60, M
Very quickly before it’s even harder
theyellowkeys · 26-30, F
@Houdini I wish I could
Houdini · 56-60, M

Toxic relationships are not love, they are all about control.

Not love if it creates dependence/manipulation

Don't walk
RUN!
theyellowkeys · 26-30, F
@SW-User very difficult when you have no energy left
You have to move on, however painful.
Adrift · 61-69, F
One foot in front of the other.
nativespirit · 61-69, M
Easily. Love is not part of a toxic relationship. Get your head on straight.
theyellowkeys · 26-30, F
@PoetryNEmotion How do you know when it's toxic or when it's just a storm you have to overcome with your partner?
@theyellowkeys Great question. If you feel unloved, inadequate, harmed, worthless, etc., that is toxic. Listen, love will not bring anger, abuse, isolation, and a host of negative feelings. A couple may argue or disagree, but an underlying sense of compassion and caring still exists. If it is a constant battle, that is unhealthy. You know if you are loved. Trust exists. Loyalty is there. Could you live happily without this person in your life? Love is s joy not a hurt. Examine why the other person is upset or fighting with you? Is the reason valid? Are you both working at dolving the concern? Is it a power struggle? Is it who wins? Coiples who love seek to dolve their conglicts. There is no name calling or emotional or physical abuse. I know what I know. Thank you.
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
I guess you could wait until it's destroyed you...
@AlchemyFox None of us are good at recognising the cue at sensing when it has finished and you are nearly destroyed.

My first wife’s illness left me withdrawn, fat and with high bp. I could no longer cope.
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@sunriselover But you had to get to that point before you realized you HAD to change things. I've been there too.
@AlchemyFox I know, even though your experiences are very different to mine, it is something we share.
It’s hard. I ended up just doing it and moving to another country.
theyellowkeys · 26-30, F
@Adeptlinguist sounds like a difficult journey :(
exchrist · 31-35
I went to the er. But for something else
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
what do you mean how? simple be done with the person and be alone for a while to heal..
theyellowkeys · 26-30, F
@Hanginginthere how.. because it's extremely difficult and sometimes I don't know if it's just a part of a relationship or not (meaning problems that we just have to work it out together if the other is willing)
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@theyellowkeys no it isn’t hard. Leave the person, if you stay you deserve the toxicity then 🤦🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️
