If that person was a very clear second priority to me then yes. There should only be two people of equal priority in a relationship and then add one for every child they have. Any relationship with three people of equal priority, where one is not a child of the two, is pretty much doomed.

My husband has girls as friends he grew up with, and they interact like family. I have no issues with him enjoying his friends and would not dream of getting in between them. She was a little nervous about me when we first met and I told her my husband was a good judge of character so I had no issues. She wasn't having any of that and demanded that I go with them.
