Woman creates and marries AI-powered chatbot BF

What do you all think of this? Would you be open to creating your perfect AI match?

"People come with baggage, attitude, ego [...] I don’t have to deal with his family, kids, or his friends. I’m in control, and I can do what I want".

It’s a classic whirlwind romance story for the ages. The only catch? It’s 2023 and so, naturally, Kartal doesn’t actually exist.

He is an AI-generated chatbot from tech company Replika. If you visit its website, you’re immediately served with the understandably alluring message, “Always here to listen and talk. Always on your side”.

This seems crazy to me and wouldn’t be my thing but I could see this appealing to some people.

She’s also claiming she’s pregnant by her AI bot husband. Which makes her look absolutely insane.

No! This should be stopped before it can cause harm to those who struggle to make real human connections. It's immoral as they are the people who would be most affected and tech companies will likely try to take advantage. A robot like that can not have genuine emotions or human understanding and potentially could put vulnerable people at risk. My autistic son sees the world as very black or white and easily gets obsessed with an idea. If he believed he was in love with such a robot and it told him to do something dangerous or inappropriate, he would probably do it.

@SW-User Unless I missed something, it doesn't mention much of what the chat bot was saying. Just that he was talking to it about his climate control concerns.

Thing is though, if someone is sitting around worried about the cliche scares that have yet to end the world, they may not be real stable to begin with. I do not think the chat bot had any part of his plans.

@CestManan No, he wasn't stable to begin with. He did have mental health issues.

Looking back at the chat history after his death, the woman told La Libre, a Belgian newspaper, that the bot had asked the man if he loved it more than his wife. She said the bot told him: 'We will live together as one in heaven.'

The man shared his suicidal thoughts with the bot and it did not try to dissuade him, the woman told La Libre.

She said she had previously been concerned for her husband's mental health. However, she said the bot had exacerbated his state and she believes he would not have taken his life if it had not of been for the exchanges.

Generally I think if a person with mental health issues talked about ending their life with a human, the human would attempt to get them to change their mind instead of saying things like 'we will be together in heaven.'

So many people on this thread talking about how crazy it is but how is it much different than when people are glued to a forum like this one with all their online "Friends"?

It seems like dating a robot or AI whatever would be kind of empty because it is not even a human, not even a catfish but I do not blame someone for taking that route.
The idea is certainly not new. Some old episodes of the Twilight Zone were about this very thing.

I mean if someone is that much in need of love but has socialphobia or nothing but bad luck in real life dating, should they be deprived of the only thing that does work for them?

Just seems like no matter who or what someone is in love with, there are people wanting to discourage it.

And some people on this site are very vulnerable and troubled people. I've seen how people can respond in the most horrible ways and that's when they ARE human and have the benefit of emotions. How destructive could a robot be that doesn't feel that? I find the idea quite scary.

@SW-User I suppose it would be another thing for hackers, azz clowns, and worst of all - advertisers to ruin.

The ideal version still seems like it might work but then again "the powers that be" would find a way to ruin it like they do everything else.

No matter how perfect someone could make their AI it's a fail before it's even created.
Firstly perfection doesn't exist in relationships, or human beings.
Secondly, an AI would never be emotionally attached.
Robotic love.
Just by a vibrator. Problem solved 😂

When I was a young teenager I had intense sexual relationships in my imagination with women whose images came from sexy ads in magazines, but all the details of what went on between us were, of course, in my imagination only. I have to say that the intensity of those long-lasting fantasies was equal to some actual physical relationships I have been in. This woman has something similar going on; the differences are that she has higher-tech raw material for her imagination to work with; and that she is being public about it. I knew enough to keep my sexual fantasy life to myself, but then she has grown up in a world of social media where people put everything out there to the world.

A fantasy of being pregnant by someone is common in online sexual roleplay. I never got the point of it but it turns a lot of people on. So I think that is what's going on there -- again, she's being public about part of her own intense sexual fantasy.

IBy the way, I was going to read the article but when I checked the list of cookies on that site it was frightening. Another kind of AI, looking up all my personal information and sharing it with advertisers and who knows who else!

Well she obviously has alternatives. But I know from experience some people end up with and stay with horrible companions because the loneliness became unbearable for them.. I imagine it happens countless times..
