it's a classic, but carrying it around while you're roaming just to have it seems... I guess I'd call it kinda pretentious? I'd say read it first and see how well the message in it (or at least what message you get out of it) resonates with you. if it does and you really like it, keep a copy. if it doesn't, carry around 'the girl who played with fire' or whatever else you might enjoy.

@dirge there's nothing pretentious here.
It's a book carrying something, a soul and a way to see the world ❤
I don't like re-reading a book just after I've read it! I'd like at least a few years apart before I read it again.
'the girl who played with fire' sounds interesting as a title... what is it about ?

@being it came out years ago, stieg larsson. part of a trilogy. actually I think the first was 'the girl with the dragon tattoo', it exploded for a while. an investigative journalist starts working on a mystery he's been hired to unravel, meets a bad ass computer dork girl who helps him out. the rest of the series is pretty much focused on her. wow, it came out in 2006; I thought it was more recent than that.

One promise I made to myself was to read all those “classics” that we were forced to read in literature classes. Looking at Thoreau from a different life perspective changed my thinking of what was important and desirable. Like the quote in my profile;”simplify”!

@SageWanderer yes Simplicity has been and is coming back over and over, a big chapter of my life... From Spartan ancient Greeks to Marie Kondo and new age Japanese minimalism, to One Single Breathe meditation.
Little, small. Simplify, simplify 🌻

The best way to decide is to read it. It must have appealed to you in some way for you to be considering it.

@ninalanyon Thank you... Everything is falling into place. My Big Journey , then The extreme exposure to people through my job, living with mum and all of the friends I'm meeting and then going to the other polarity of the Mountain and living with Cats .. 😺
...
I'm yet unsure what I'll do with SW! I think I'd have a lot of isolation and maybe I'll allow myself a visit, but definitely not be staying here for too long too often!:) will see...

@being Please take lots of pictures and post them here when you get back; I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see some of the scenery, cats, and you.

It is a very short book, but I still reread it occasionally. You would probably get sick of it if it was all you had to read.
