being I would say that you should read it when you get back from the remote place. So that you can compare your experience with Thoreau's. But do remember that Walden was not remote. Thoreau was never more than a couple of kilometres from other people.

It was a social experiment, a kind of controlled departure from the sort of society that he normally inhabited.
Unlike the people who lived all their lives by the labour of their hands he was always at liberty to go back to town.
It's only rebellious in a quiet, theoretical way. I dip into it occasionally.
