I Absolutely Love Bookstores

I work in a bookstore and I often sit with a book and coffee in a little nook at the back of the store legs tucked under, reading a new book. It probably sounds boring to many but to me it’s heaven

Sounds wonderful. I can spend hours wandering around a bookstore.

I will give them a look thank you @MtnManJohn

@Charlottefun I read a variety of genres also, and I’m always looking for something new to read. Working in a bookstore would be a dream job.

It is for me.@MtnManJohn

Interestingly, bookstores are disappearing but the ones that remain tend to be in heavily populated areas....NYC is where a number of old bookstores still stand.

Not boring at all....I love book shops and can spend ages browsing around or sit reading. Tranquil atmosphere and books...perfect!

It is sad there aren't as many bookstores as there used to be. The digital age is trampling all over printed formats. I even love the way book stores smell. Printed work cost much more to produce and e-books are pushing their way in. I write and when I publish I have both formats but I don't make as much on printed versions because production is much higher.

@lasergraph it’s a sad fact of modern life. I sometimes buy electronic because some books are not ones I want to keep but many , especially poetry and history, I buy for reading and putting on my bookshelf forever

There is something about the odor of a book store, particularly an old one. It is so sad that they are all closing. I love walking around and looking at old books.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Charlottefun what kind of book store do you work in? A modern Barnes and Nobles, or an old fashioned local store?
Charlottefun · 61-69, F
@samueltyler2 [@its an independent store fairly modern we specialize in mysteries which continue to sell in book form
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Charlottefun That is an interesting way to sell, a specialty book store. I don't read much fiction, but when I do, I do enjoy mysteries, historical fiction or medical.

@Charlottefun how fortunate you are, You can read lot of books.
mountainman1234 · 70-79, M
Agreed even with all the new ways of reading there is something about holding a book that has been around for ages that makes the story come to life ,,,, it is to bad the children of the future will not know the joy of this ,,,
Charlottefun · 61-69, F
@mountainman1234 I’m for progress after all a book was an improvement on the scroll. Books are a wonderful thing to hold, but think of all the trees we’ll save and the landfills we won’t fill
mountainman1234 · 70-79, M
True enough but we could always go back to making books from cloth ,,, it is more expensive maybe but it would be better than all the trees we cut down ,,,

Sounds WONDERFUL to me!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
If they don't buy the book, that is bad for the store. There are so few brick and mortar book stores left as it is, the store exists from sales!
peterjay · 61-69, M
Not boring at all! I work in a Library & know what you mean. Hoping you get to work barefoot!
Charlottefun · 61-69, F
@peterjay I am barefoot whenever possible ❤️

My friends all know NOT to take me to a bookstore unless they have LOTS of time and money 😏
Nice to sit back with a hard cover book in your hand relaxing reading a good story
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
there really is nothing like the smell of an old bookstore!
