Have you ever forced yourself to read a book?

I forced myself to read Frankenstein. However, I did enjoy the story, and I felt really bad for Dr. Frankenstein, but some parts of the story were a little boring for me.

Back in bloody high school they made us read this bloody book called 'Rage' or 'Oath' or 'Raw' or something, about this 'troubled teen' boy dickhead, wanker who goes to some farm for juvenile delinquents or something. It was awful! But I had to read it for school.

@Allelse: Okay, I will! Thank you. I want to eventually publish some stories, and I'm getting all worked up over punctuation.

@BlackBloodDemon: That's alright. Remember a writer writes, always. Watch 'Throw Momma from a train' Its a good movie for writers, dont worry its a comedy.

@Allelse: I recommend watching "Whisper of the Heart" for writers. It doesn't exactly teach you writing stuff, but it's a wonderful tale about a young writer who's trying to find her inner self. Her friend already has his dreams planned out, but then she's just there reading books all the time. When her friend went to go after his dream (which was to be a violin maker), she decided to challenge herself by writing a book.
It's also a studio ghibli film, so the movie is already a good film.

Yeah, many times actually, sometimes I've been surprised by the experience turning out better than I thought and other times it has just left me incredibly bored for hours on end. Thankfully a fast reader, so not too many hours on end.

Being a fast reader has its ups and downs.
Reading fast can cause a good story to end quickly, but reading fast can cause a horrible story to end quickly.

So very true.

Don Quixote. Here it's like the Bible. And yes, I thank my teacher for making me do it. I couldn't stop reading it. Such a rich lexical and ingenious way to say the things.

Regarding Frankenstein I also felt sad but mainly for the monster.
BlackBloodDemon · 22-25
I feel bad for the monster, too, but I didn't think it was right for him to do what he did at the end (not going to spoil anything for those who haven't read Frankenstein).
Dracula scared the shit out of me...

@iCrochetstuff: Did you know that the story of Dracula is actually based off Vlad Tepes? He was a cruel leader in Transylvania and loved to impale people.

You can read more here if you want:

I'm good. Lol but I did know it was based if Transylvania just like Frankinstein was @BlackBloodDemon:

@iCrochetstuff: Well, Vlad could have been in Romania, too, but I'm not sure. The article talks about both places.

The last time I forced myself to read a book was in 1961. It was a reading assignment in high school.

"Crime and Punishment." I wish I could un-read that book!
