Book v Film - What is your favourite?

The Boys in the Boat.
I found the film very exciting even though I knew what was going to happen, but the book because -
The thorough exploration of Nazi propaganda in relation to the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
The wonderful descriptions of boat building.
The tension which is difficult to maintain when writing about sport and yet Brown does it.

That was a good film.

I read the Len Diegton trilogy "Game Set Match" and then afterwards the miniseries came (Uan Holmes eas the main actor in it).
After that I just had to read the books again , and all the characters suddenly had a face and voice and it eas so easy to visualise and connect to.

depends. if i'm interested in reading the book i dont like watching the movie first because i rather paint my own picture of the characters.

@sylvsn59 Yes and there is so much more detail in the book.

@coffeebycandlelight Very true which is why i try not to be disappointed if I choose the watch the movie afterwards. No movie can do justice to a good book, not to say some authors, I find, seem to ramble unnecessarily.

I always prefer the book

@Lugwho So do I. When you read a book, you can interpret the plot and the story to your liking. Books allow your mind to be creative.

@coffeebycandlelight I think the longer tv adaptions are better than films. A 2 hour film is too short to do a good book justice.

First Blood, by David Morrell.
