I found the film very exciting even though I knew what was going to happen, but the book because - The thorough exploration of Nazi propaganda in relation to the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The wonderful descriptions of boat building. The tension which is difficult to maintain when writing about sport and yet Brown does it.

I read the Len Diegton trilogy "Game Set Match" and then afterwards the miniseries came (Uan Holmes eas the main actor in it). After that I just had to read the books again , and all the characters suddenly had a face and voice and it eas so easy to visualise and connect to.
