What is the likelihood that George RR Martin dies before finishing A Song of Ice and Fire?

He's 70 and obese and Winds of Winter is at (according to him) the 3/4 mark

In November 2023, Martin indicated in an interview with Bangcast that the number of pages he had written was the same as the year before, stating, "The main thing I'm actually writing, of course, is the same thing... I wish I could write as fast as [The Last Kingdom author Bernard Cornwell] but I'm 12 years late on this damn novel and I'm struggling with it. I have like 1,100 pages written but I still have hundreds more pages to go. It's a big mother of a book for whatever reason. Maybe I should've started writing smaller books when I began this but it's tough. That's the main thing that dominates most of my working life.[4][5]

I'm actually very impressed he made it to 70 as an obese man. He's defying the odds!

If he dies, they''ll have an AI finish the book, then announce he died.

Pretty sure he made a deal with the devil and can only die when he completes the series.

@Straylight I hope so, I may have to sell my own soul so he gets extra time 😭
BabyLonia · F
Then they get some sub-standard ghost writer who completes the book on his behalf

Happened with Mario Puzo

@SW-User I was just thinking he did good with Wheel of Time, but in a sense WoT is a less complex book regd plot within plots style writing GRRM is known for.

It's going to be his modern Silmarilion
