It is a pleasure and a privilege. Mine is old enough to read back to me now 😌

Ya, my kids loved it and I’d do different voices (as I’m sure most parents do too), they loved that.

Aw🥰 special reading time.
If I have a kid, I hope to have special reading time together with them for as long as they wish.
I don't have any memories of either of my parents reading to me, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of them read to us as kids, and I was just too young to remember. My parents and grandparents greatly encouraged reading. I remember my grandparents old house had a basement that was lined with bookcases. They had a huge encyclopedia section at different levels and with loads of pictures for kids. I read those a lot whenever we'd visit.
I enjoyed reading to my younger brother when he couldn't yet read and I have some fond memories of reading books to him. And later I have fond memories of my dad letting me and my brothers all raid his bookshelves for books when I was in my teens. He had quite the collection of classic literature, sci fi, and horror.
I always enjoyed making literature time special as a teacher too.
Reading is such a pleasure and a privilege. One everyone should have. :)
Makes me wish I decided to keep many of my books and have a collection like my dad and grandparents. But most of my books are e-books now.

I used to do that every night.

I did for my daughter as a toddler but she’d ask so many questions while I was reading to her. When she got older she sat down with our cat and a book with pictures and read and showed her the photos. That cat loved it.

You laugh but one time when she was about three years old she asked how mustard was made. So I went into detail explaining there were greens like we ate but a different type than i grew and that we ate and they make a lot of seeds. The seeds are collected and ground into a powder and mixed with vinegar, turmeric to make it yellow, salt and put into jars to be sold. Then she asked how the jar was made. So I explained to her that glass was made from sand that melted over a hot fire and purified and taken to be made into jars with machines at a glass factory. Then she asked how the metal lids were made. I told her but ended the questions before she could ask how the label got made.

So many books we read….Roald Dahl, Robert Munson, JK Rowling, among others. Amazing time spent together.

I really miss reading stories with my kids....and its something i miss now im not working in a school.
Many if the kids ive worked with in recent years tell us they dont have books at home and nobody reads to them or with them. Even in school, manyvt teachers call up an online slide show rather than reading a book to the kids. That really annoys me.

I want my nieces and nephew to know how to read and enjoy it, I try to read a lot when they're around, even if it's just visual novel/text in a stupid ipad game.

It's awesome for the kids, too.
