What author always soothes you?

For me it's Alasdair MacIntyre or Aristotle. If I want reason, I want one of them. Most of the world is batshit, but when I open MacIntyre or Aristotle's work, my field of vision is encompassed by sane and truthful. Temporarily, I am relieved of superstitious, selfish, erratic, and insane. I'm rereading Aristotle's Physics for the first time since university.

Stephen King, honest to god. It's a nostalgia thing- my dad always had his books around, and I was reading them at 8 yrs old, so they're comforting to me.

So much "batshit" (as you call it.....😀) around. Yes, sometimes when my mind/heart grows weary there are many books I can turn to, to get back in touch with other mind/hearts that seem to have cared about things. Seem to soak it up like a sponge.

A local author named J. California Cooper. Her books read in such a way that you can practically hear her telling the stories.
