They always say never to bring a knife to a gunfight. But the Vietcong brought sticks and stones to a gunfight, and they won.

Well they actually brought guns. But your point stands ;)

If you're gonna bring a knife to a gunfight make sure the guy with the gun is an idiot who is convinced he's a genius, and that there's more of you, and that you know the lay of the land very well. Take all the strategic advantages you have knowing you don't have a gun.

@CaptainCanadia Guns are harder to use than most people think so if the shooter has no experience, you might be able to stay alive until he needs to reload, then you can stab him.

Well yeah, sticks and stones are the exception, they can break bones

@Jackaloftheazuresand Ooh, good one.
All one needs is mettle in their blood!!!!

Military speaking... that's not correct at all.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Stellen The Americans were fighting a losing battle. The only way to win the war would be to kill off almost all the Vietnamese people. Which was possible, but it would have cost a ridiculous number of American lives and money. It did cost a ridiculous amount of American lives and money. The US was beaten partially out by force, partially from the incredible backlash against the war, and partially by realizing there was no clear way of winning since the enemy was communism, and you can't directly fight an idea.

Yes. Again we left because the juice wasn't worth the squeeze.

I don't disagree here with you as much as I thought I might. But to say the Vietcong won with sticks an stones is over simplifying a complex situation. An at least to me, would lead people to assume the USA got beat up by a bunch of Ewoks.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Stellen Because they did get beat by a bunch of Ewoks. I mean, technically they did. The US lost the war and North Vietnam won. You're right, there's a lot more that goes into it than just that, but still.
Yup. They held their own with rocks and sticks..

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Home field advantage played a big part though. When you're fighting in a jungle, it's easier to get away with that stuff.

They never brought any knives.
