Scratch-off tickets

Back in my youth, shortly after they started the lottery here in Missouri. I had a friend who worked in a convenience store. Now, while she was an all around lovely person, she was not the sharpest knife in the drawer. So, the scratch-off lottery cards that the store where she worked sold were advertised as one card in 17 being a winner.

My friend, love her, told me that she was absolutely sure that the store's manager would go through the tickets and take out every seventeenth card so he could get all the winners for himself.

There was nothing that could shake her conviction in this belief.
