Companies create an avatar of an user. Their likes their wants etc based on browsing history. Then they predict. Good ads predict well what you'd like. Cookies exist for this. To track your behavior and adjust accordingly.
Some apps use eye tracking to see your interest (Meta).
They're working on fNIRS, near compact infrared waves devices that can measure brain activities and I'm most certain those would be incorporated into earphones(BTW brainwave measuring earphones already exist) and phones to further track us and make us buy.
