The independence paradox
I often think about this,
I mean, people who live by themselves are considered independent,
But in order to live by yourself within modern society you need to be dependent on an income stream which depends on others for that income stream to flow...
Whether that be from an employer in a work environment,
And potentially dependant on the social standing and reputation within the workplace dynamic,
Or if you're self employed, you need to depend on customers and clients for income,
And also dependant on the online reviews you get for social proof.
And outside of income, you need to depend on the healthcare system when you're sick, even if you pay them, you still depend on them,
Amongst a bunch of other things I can think of rn.
But yeah, you need to be dependant on others and to a degree dependant on their reactions and how they view you.
But if you get someone highly dependant on just 1 or 2 people (parent for example)
They're considered dependant, but really they're relying on less people than the perceived independent people who in reality depend on a lot more people to function in society?
The only true way to be independent, imo,
Is to do a butt ton of wilderness survival training and skip town
