Living forever, that’s got to be a curse rather than a blessing surely.

The first thing that would happen is music, culture and attitudes will move on faster than your personality can cope with it. Ever noticed how most old people reach a stage where they hate change and shun it?

Then everyone you ever loved or cared about would age and die right in front of you. You might try to keep relationships going with their descendants who like and sound like the people you love, but aren’t.

And then those of you who spend your time waving a flag, the country you were born in might become something else. And even if the name sticks for thousand of years like those few rare cases, the people who live in it will change. Human migration has been a constant thing as long as there are humans. In 300 years time your own language will sound foreign.

I have no intention of living forever if we’re giving out wishes. I just want to enjoy the time there is with the people I love in the place that is home now.

What happens after, is absolutely none of my beeswax.

Exactly. Would be devastating to a decent person, incredible to an evil one.
