Running in heels

A question for folks who have experience wearing high heels, which I do not.

Is the trick to walking in heels to put your weight on the balls of your feet rather than on the heels, and just use the heels to steady yourself? I'm writing something and it's just something one of the character muses about.

When walking you put your weight on the balls of your feet. While standing still you use the heels for your weight.

I've never really thought about how I do it. I'll be wearing heels tomorrow, I'll try to pay attention!

For me, it depends on how high and narrow or wide the heel is.
Youve pretty much got the idea.

Most of it is the balls of your feet....your heels are kind of minor stabilizers.

You also use your hips way more due to the massive reduction in ankle rotation.
(Big part of why highheels are sexy - wiggly hips).

Running in them is akin to althletic ability.
Running in stilettos or kitten heels - no - they snap.
Running in block, cone(pumps), square or wedge heels - yes...dooable.
