The term “commando” refers to a type of military unit that operates in stealth and camouflage, not to do with undergarments. The phrase actually stems from the South African Defense Force’s elite unit, the “Recces,” who allegedly wore no underwear as a practical and stealthy measure during missions. The term eventually spread to describe anyone who chose to wear no underwear, but this was not its original intention.
