It's a mystery

Out walking, stumbled upon this. What's this all about?

@Maturebate I saw what you did there, very good. How did I miss that writing my post. Early onset.

Loads of different answers to this depending on how old you are and where you're from.

One suggestion is that it signals the end of mandatory military service.

Guys conscripted would complete their national service and on leaving boot camp were allowed to keep their boots (makes sense i mean what would the army want them back for ? 馃し)
As something of a metaphorical f-you, those leaving would toss them over the nearest telephone wire knowing it would give the camp a headache evertytime they had to remove them if phone lines started to go kaput !

Years and years ago it was rumored that shoes flung over a phone or electric wire were flags that drugs were available to buy close by.

Maybe it鈥檚 a seminar.

@HumanEarth must have been unpleasant getting dressed when it snowed.
HumanEarth56-60, M
Not really, it snowed enough, that we could reach the shoes easily
Mamapolo2016F
@HumanEarth That鈥檚 a lot of snow!

It could be a cobblers convention and they have to leave their boots at the door because it's slippers only indoors. But that could all be a load of cobblers!
HumanEarth56-60, M
Shoe trees are expensive. Only the rich have them.

Us kids in the ghetto use the power lines to store our shoes. See included photo
