Precinct: Never Again.

I don’t see why I would ever vote at a precinct again.

The office of elections emails me telling me my ballot has been mailed. I know to expect it within two days. Unlike my last experience at a precinct, where there were no ballots or provisional ballots left— I actually get a ballot. It’s not a wild card.

I fill it out and return it. Generally before all the political advertisements come to the house, before the signs come up. Before the media is saturated with lies and slander and fake self promotion, I make my educated decisions based on my own experience without any of that influence.

When I mail it back, I get called and emailed if there was a problem with the ballot. I can go online and see that the ballot was received and counted. Never had a clue pushing my ballot in the machine at the precinct. Could be a shredder in there.

Don’t have to cross lines of people with signs to get to the precinct. Don’t have to deal with weirdness at the precincts. Don’t have to deal with rude and invasive poll observers.

Why would I do anything else.

They let you check on mail in ballots. Here we've got to check registration. They purge voters randomly. Mail in ballots are restricted. Drop boxes are limited to one per county and early voting days have been shortened.

Voter supression does exist.
@Crazywaterspring Here in Florida I have experienced a bit of what I'll call "irregularities".

* Being knocked off the registration roster. Not sure why. No notification.
* Being told at the precinct that I was not in the registry. Do a provisional ballot. Go online and there I am. Registered.
* Creeps at or near the precinct.

The only thing any one seems to talk about is illegals voting.

I'm not really shocked. It's alot of shit to manage. I hate that the only remedy is being told to stay at the precinct until somebody from elections comes out. Which can be hours.

@CopperCicada It is as if a certain party knew they couldn't win an election in a fair and honest race.

The city of Sherwood has a much more effective way of gathering ballots. There's a drive-up ballot box in front of City Hall. I literally just drive into the parking lot next to the box, and shove my ballot in.
