There's truth in this. It's deeper than simply 'being' or trying to be happy.

What is happy anyway. It's just a feeling. I believe more in contentment.

Maybe for some people, during the less tragic parts of their life, happiness is a choice. But not all the time, and not for everyone.

@BlueDiver: tragedy (and I have had my share) is not a reason to be incapable of being happy. It is all a matter of perspective. Clearly harder for some than others...
