COVID-19 death

The husband of a former co-worker died this morning of complications from COVID-19.

While I always liked her and we always got along, she was and remains a fanatical conservative Christian zealot (she was basically raised in a cult), and her husband was apparently cut from the same cloth.

In the years since we worked together, she has entered politics and pursues extremist right-wing policies. They were both big anti-vaxxers, embraced all the ridiculous conspiracy theories, encouraged citizens to not sign up for Medicare expansion, just all the usual horrid nonsense coming out of these people.

While I disagree with her on pretty much everything (it wouldn't surprise me if she thought the world was flat), I still feel bad for her, even though her situation was self inflicted, as she and her husband were both unvaccinated.

No one deserves to die, even if they are extremist neo-feudal theocratic wingnuts.

Get vaccinated. Wear a mask. Maintain social distance. Don't get your information from anyone who has a radio or TV show named after them. Stop believing the nonsense.

Those people may not "deserve" it, but God has blessed us with many things, including, allegedly, brains, so...to go against intelligence would theoretically be going against God. And, when you go against God, there are consequences.

I still feel terrible for those people, but geez.

My doctor told me that, indoors, the Delta version is not to be messed with. Forget about 6 feet, 60 feet won't do it. And he might be right, because my girlfriend's band played to a packed house last weekend....and 2 of her bandmates got Covid. Strangely, the keyboardist's wife, also a band member, did NOT get Covid. All were vaxxed and are doing fine.
