COVID-19 death

The husband of a former co-worker died this morning of complications from COVID-19.

While I always liked her and we always got along, she was and remains a fanatical conservative Christian zealot (she was basically raised in a cult), and her husband was apparently cut from the same cloth.

In the years since we worked together, she has entered politics and pursues extremist right-wing policies. They were both big anti-vaxxers, embraced all the ridiculous conspiracy theories, encouraged citizens to not sign up for Medicare expansion, just all the usual horrid nonsense coming out of these people.

While I disagree with her on pretty much everything (it wouldn't surprise me if she thought the world was flat), I still feel bad for her, even though her situation was self inflicted, as she and her husband were both unvaccinated.

No one deserves to die, even if they are extremist neo-feudal theocratic wingnuts.

Get vaccinated. Wear a mask. Maintain social distance. Don't get your information from anyone who has a radio or TV show named after them. Stop believing the nonsense.

I totally agree. However my father completed both doses of vaccines in June. He still contracted the infection 2 days ago. He has mild symptoms though.

The point being, such breakthrough cases are making the anti-vaxers even more verbose. I still hope that everyone will get vaccinated very soon, and the bloody pandemic will end in 2021, 🤞

@YMITheWayIM Because they don't understand statistics. The breakthrough cases are a tiny percentage of infections, and are mostly pretty mild.

Yes, I hope COVID-19 burns itself out soon. That's not going to happen until more people are vaccinated.
