I Have Something to Say

Is it really fair to scrutinise and debate with somebody over their religion as long as they are not causing any harm?

Of course you may not agree with somebody's beliefs but it is something unique to their identity, it is part of their being.

Yes there are homophobic references in some bibles just as the prophet Muhammad married a nine year old.

There are negative aspects to religion just as there is to science.. After all it took scientific knowledge to invent let's see create nuclear weapons, biological weapons etc.

A lot of the time religion betters people morally.. I've been to church in obligation mainly and they don't teach hate.. They teach community, support, friendship.. GOOD VALUES.

Sometimes people use good things to do bad.. That's people for you.

Edit: You can say it's healthy to debate but I bet it's a difference story if somebody challenges your beliefs. Y'know nobody likes being told they are wrong or having their values questioned.

Ok, since you posted...

Why do we need the threat of eternal punishment in order to do the right thing by one another.

Religion is the root of war and suffering...and for what reason?

To feel better about our geography?
Where you were born has so much to do with shaping your beliefs...

It's a bullshit game..
A crutch...use it if you need it..

Deuces.

@Nonsequitur: Yeah religion is the root of all war 🙄

Not assholes with guns, the bible did it. Like I said people use good things to do bad.

@InternetExplorer: perhaps the more accurate statement is people use unscrupulous means to control others?

😒, See, I can use emojis as well.
No, it isn't fair.

Especially if the person has no desire to engage in a debate over their personal choice in religion or form of worship. we can all rant and rave all we like. but what they choose will always be up to them. So many get condemned over the actions of others and it is sad. i have no present religion, but was actually raised Baptist for some time. regardless of the actions of "some" in the chruch, the overall actions of those within it were of love, fellowship, community, and support. i watched them embrace a lot of people, even though i myself never felt comfortable there. i understand that much.

I turned to Christianity after I had sold my soul to the devil while playing with spiritism. My Lord and savior redeemed my soul, and turned my darkness into light, and where there used to be tormented screams of hell are now replaced with the sweetest choir of angels singing! This is my truth.
I don't really care what people believe, I care what they do.

I think it's healthy to question, discuss and even challenge as long as it is done respectfully. Nothing should be accepted outright, even if it appears to be "good" on the surface.

If someone posts here about something they should expect opposing opinions and ideas.

If people do not want to discuss or debate their beliefs then maybe they should keep them to theirself.

This goes for the real world too. If you walk around telling people about your beliefs then expect responses that may not be to your liking. And or expect having to have some s9rt of further discussion.

By the way: the biggest things about faith is that you are to spread the word of God to everyone. If a person has faith in God they typically are happy to discuss it.

@JaggedLittlePill: Idk so people are supposed to say nothing. What if it was something small like "----- is the best band" and that turned into a debate?
