I Have Something to Say

Is it really fair to scrutinise and debate with somebody over their religion as long as they are not causing any harm?

Of course you may not agree with somebody's beliefs but it is something unique to their identity, it is part of their being.

Yes there are homophobic references in some bibles just as the prophet Muhammad married a nine year old.

There are negative aspects to religion just as there is to science.. After all it took scientific knowledge to invent let's see create nuclear weapons, biological weapons etc.

A lot of the time religion betters people morally.. I've been to church in obligation mainly and they don't teach hate.. They teach community, support, friendship.. GOOD VALUES.

Sometimes people use good things to do bad.. That's people for you.

Edit: You can say it's healthy to debate but I bet it's a difference story if somebody challenges your beliefs. Y'know nobody likes being told they are wrong or having their values questioned.

No, it isn't fair.

Especially if the person has no desire to engage in a debate over their personal choice in religion or form of worship. we can all rant and rave all we like. but what they choose will always be up to them. So many get condemned over the actions of others and it is sad. i have no present religion, but was actually raised Baptist for some time. regardless of the actions of "some" in the chruch, the overall actions of those within it were of love, fellowship, community, and support. i watched them embrace a lot of people, even though i myself never felt comfortable there. i understand that much.
