What do you think of fried air

I've finally given in and ordered an air fryer. Everyone has said I must get one - apparently they're marvellous and indispensible. Well, it had better be.

It’s awesome you can make stuff in like ten minutes in that thing that would take 20-45 in the oven. You just throw the food in the little basket and turn the knob 😁

I don't know how I cooked without mine. I used it ALL the time. I have a Cuisinart TOA-60. Great for up to 4 people for most things. Looks like a toaster oven but they call it an "air fryer" because it really is a convection/conduction oven. They've really come down in price. The BEST baked potatoes you'll ever eat. Use Air Bake instead of the Air Fry settings. Frozen Pizza in under 10 minutes. I haven't made scones in it yet but it baked brownies and cookies wonderfully.

@MsAlaineEYes baked potatoes, eh?
@damselfly the BEST; and sweet potatoes. Pizza!!!! Chicken tenders or "fried fish" nuggests, tater tots, waffle fries, french fries, any frozen dinner; better than the microwave; we don't have one...won't.
They are incredibly convenient if you're not cooking for a family .

They are basically a stove element , with a fan above...so really ...a very small oven or griller.

Its amazing what you can cook in them.

There are heaps of recipes online .

I love mine ... it makes awesome chunky chips ... crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle 😍

Honestly I’d rather just eat traditional fried foods. Haven’t tried anything air fried, but I’m a traditionalist

@MrAboo It is arriving tomorrow. I will let you know
damselfly · 100+, F
@MrAboo yes it's definitely worth the hype. You prepare stuff as usual, set the time, and you don't need to watch it. You can also roast joints of meat. Roast vegetables can be made in a third of the time they take in the oven.

@damselfly interesting 🤔

Fried air is probably tastier than boiled air, though I'm only guessing 😆

@LostnFound69 I'm more into slow cooking these days, maybe slow cooked air would be tastiest

I love slow cooking, just a bit of forward planning and simple ingredients can come out amazing. You’d think lock down would have made preplanning food easier. Wish I was more organised!@SW-User

@SW-User now you're just being silly. Who in their right mind would wanna cook air slowly? 🤣

I really like mine

@SW-User that's what all my chums say. Time will tell. I ordered it before midnight so it should arrive before Tuesday

@damselfly Nice, they are handy.

😊 Ive not tried it .. though sounds useful
I am enjoying mine. Quite convenient for certain items, such as sweet potato fries, chicken wings.
Are you enjoying yours?
damselfly · 100+, F
@Ghostinthemachine Yes I am. Furthermore, I have a gang of ladies who come around on Monday mornings for coffee and giggles, and happened to start raving about my air fryer, and how things can be cooked in a fraction of the time for a fraction of the cost, and had them all trail into the kitchen for a look, and last week one of them mentioned that she'd bought one just like mine, and then the others confessed that they'd all ordered them too. There are nine of us in the gang and seven of us have the same model
@damselfly You should get matching jackets and call yourself the Air Fryer Gang
damselfly · 100+, F
@Ghostinthemachine that is not a bad idea

Is air best served in a light tempura batter or deep fried in breadcrumbs?
damselfly · 100+, F
@LostnFound69 I will report on my findings

If I had a bigger kitchen I'd get one

I keep meaning to buy one.
