I am sorry to hear about that however I suggest to move out once you find a job and stand on your own feet. Being independent is happiness
MysterySci · 22-25, F
@Gayhusbandmaterial Yeah, I'm planning to study abroad, thus moving out of here :)

SW-User
No. I could leave anytime. I stay for one person who I don't want to leave stuck in a house full of people who don't care about her.

@MysterySci Yes. Since my dad died, she's by herself with a bunch of awful people who keep taking her money. I'm there till they leave so she's got someone who has her back.

@SW-User I hope you guys can find peace within.

@MysterySci Thank you.
And hang in there with your situation.

This is an extremely difficult situation that you are in. As an "emotional fool" myself, though I can't imagine what you are going through, I know that I would have a very difficult time. We should all have a sense of self-worth, but it's very hard when that does not come from our parents much or at all. I am glad you HAVE some friends who value you very much, but it sucks that you have to spend all your time around people who don't value you and that you can only talk to people who value you on the phone or see them rarely in public.
You will escape. You will keep working hard. You will not forget the purpose of what you're doing. You will let your friends know when you are losing motivation, and we will help you to regain it. The best motivation comes from within, but there is a reason we have friends. We are here to help you when you need it and to do the best we can to give you the love and support that your parents won't. We're not meant to be a replacement for parents, so it's still incredibly unjust. But we want to see you become free and empowered over your life.

Sounds like you have sociopaths as parents... My parents where lacking in love also.. I hope you do maintain that discipline and do well in your studies..
But know this the long term effects of growing up in a loveless home will come back to bite you later if you get married and start a family without dealing with and expelling the demons that will haunt you, They act to sabotage your future relationships..
Breaking away physically is only the first step.. Breaking away mentally is the second..

@Adstar Yeah, hoping not to lose my marbles anytime soon. But sometimes, there's such a thin line in between which makes it quite difficult to not cross, but we humans have great adaptation skills :D But I don't want to adapt too much into it, which makes it so that I live here forever.
I am considering to live by myself in the future. Getting married or being in a close relationship with someone, maybe isn't my forte apparently 😅

@MysterySci Well i am single also.. So it is an option.. But in the real world it is still easier to live a single life as a male.. So it is a harder road to travel for a female..
For now it's easy for you to remain single.. I would continue being so.. But i would also get your mind fixed so that you have an option to pursue a family if you change your mind..

@Adstar Yes, it may be easier for a male than a female. But I'll take it with all its got, I guess. :)

I'm convinced tiger parenting is immoral. I'm so sorry.

I was around your age, but I got the f out and never looked back
plungesponge · 41-45, M
Right after high school. The strangest thing I've noticed is I have never had a dream about the house I grew up in, I can remember every inch of it if I focus but it never comes unconciously. I think my brain has blocked it out and moved on.
MysterySci · 22-25, F
@plungesponge If I may ask, did you cut off contact with your "family" after that as well?
plungesponge · 41-45, M
I had minimal contact for a few years after, then made an attempt to reconnect. Ended badly, I realized they had no interest in changing the dynamics of our relationship, no desire to even address the issues, things were either going to get buried or denied.
I don't have any regrets or anger towards them. I made my decision to remove them completely when I realized I had no desire to allow their toxic personalities into my future.
You have to make these decisions carefully, after taking a no-bullshit assessment of the situation, your own faults, what can or can't be fixed. I'd definitely not recommend walking away if you haven't given it a second chance, and being very clear to the people involved you'll walk away if they don't meet you halfway. That's the best way to have closure if you need to go.

Hang in there, you'll be able to leave soon enough.
MysterySci · 22-25, F
@HannahSky Can't wait.
bijouxbroussard · F
No, I haven’t lived with my parents in about 40 years. I feel bad that it’s not as easy for kids to leave their parents’ homes nowadays. My relationship with my parents improved exponentially once I was no longer under their roof.
MysterySci · 22-25, F
@bijouxbroussard I also have a feeling that my relationship may improve when I move out of here. But I also think that when they find out who I am, truly as a person, and about my values & beliefs, they will no longer want to interact with me in anyway. But I won't be sad if that is the case, though. :)
