I Have Something to Say

Here are 30 seconds of hurricane Matthew, taken from my front porch in Savannah, Georgia. Main storm is still an hour or so away.

Grateful to still have power!

No, I'm in Raleigh. I spent the month of a September at Holden Beach in a camper, and had one tropical storm come through... that was enough.

@Softandsweet2: I know what you mean. What these storms lack in terms of lightning/thunder drama, they more than make up for with sheer volume.

Yeah - when Hermine hit the beach here, we didn't have that much wind, but the rain was awesome. I was in a little camper, and it was so loud - like being inside a drum. Anyway, hope you're not in a low area. I know Savannah is a coastal town. Make sure that phone is well charged.

Yeah, I like the sounds. Very soothing! And I'm definitely [i]not[/i] in a low area. Otherwise, I probably would have left. They're expecting a lot of storm surge.

I watched the news this evening. They were saying 10feet down in Melbourne Fl. Hope you don't get that. There will probably be some crazies out surfing.

@Softandsweet2: They're predicting 8-11 feet here. Luckily, most of downtown Savannah is up on a bluff. I'm at 30 feet, so I feel pretty safe. 😁 Kinda envy those crazy surfers, though. 😜

Sounds like you'll be ok unless the rain washes you away. I'm too much of a coward to try surfing with all the rip currents. I enjoy kite surfing in the sounds up here. It's a lot of fun, and not so much work. You can zip around like you're on a jet ski.

@AwwTopsy: wind is blowing so hard and I have such big trees. I'm afraid of them falling more than anything. Everything else is fine. They have flood warning up but not worried about that. Stuff keeps hitting the house tho and it's freaky

@Softandsweet2: It will end. Maybe find a safe room in your house and hunker down a bit. You just have to wait these things out, but it will be okay. Hoping for the best for you.

@AwwTopsy: Thanks :) the winds have calmed some so it's not so scary now. We still have rain and wind but not like a few hours ago. Hope it stays this way.
